Staycation at The Hoxton Holborn Pt.1

This post is rather overdue but as they say, better late than never. Sometimes you need to dedicate some time to appreciate the incredible place/city you call home. I invited my Mum for a little staycation at The Hoxton in Holborn. You may be familiar with their Shoreditch branch which I often frequent for coffee catch ups, and can’t stop by without dropping by their vintage photobooth (when can I ever resist one!?). The Holborn branch is located just down the road from Holborn tube station on High Holborn road. It was the first time I’d had the chance to stay at the hotel, I’d previously shot in ‘The Apartment’ venue for ‘The Bloggers Market’ last summer hosted by Olivia, Lucy, Carrie, Dunya and Kristabel.

I checked in early as I had to dash off to a shoot in central before meeting my Mum later that day. The staff were super helpful and checked me in to another room quickly. I went to put my luggage down in the room. Our ‘cosy’ room, had a sumptuous double bed and the cutest hotel coffee mugs I’ve ever seen! I wanted to pack them straight into my suitcase. One thing I love about The Hoxton is their attention to branding and graphics and imagery. I’d really love to see their latest branch over in Amsterdam. They are also going to be opening two new hotels in Paris and Williamsburg very soon.

I headed downstairs to meet Ollie for a quick lunch at the Holborn Grind next door. I love that The Hoxton has such a good coffee shop on the door step on the hotel. The Grind group have now expanded across London. Whichever one I go to across the city, the staff are always welcoming and they all serve delicious coffee! I also love the interiors, they keep it minimal whilst incorporating an industrial city chic vibe.

After my shoot I met Mum and we headed back to the hotel to freshen up. Pen and Ink (cockney rhyming slang for ‘stink’) products were supplied in the bathroom, a cheeky play on words with great packaging along with a lovely quality product. We had drinks in the hotel’s bar/restaurant Hubbard & Bell and then walked into Covent Garden for the evening, browsed a few shops and headed for dinner. We went to Shake Shack which you’ll know if you’ve seen my recent NYC foodie post is a favourite of mine. My Mum hadn’t been before so it only seemed right that we should indulge in a slice of burger heaven! A short walk back to The Hoxton for a dreamy nights sleep. Pt 2 of our staycation will be coming very soon, so remember to check back in to see my local recommendations close by to The Hoxton, Holborn.
