NYC - Central Park & Top of the Rock

We arrived in Manhattan and dropped off our bags back at our apartment and then headed to the subway and up to Central Park. Looking back through these photos reminded me of what a lovely evening this was. Walking through Central park in a bright golden light with signs of springs peeking out throughout the park, passing people on their weekend run or walking their dogs and even couples like us taking a leisurely stroll. I love that there is a community feel in Central Park, you can imagine childrens' parties being held there in the summer, along with picnics on a hot sunny days! I would definitely love to go on the boating lake one day too.

We walked passed The Met and I imagined the countless scenes from Gossip Girl where Blair's posse had sat! We walked down fifth avenue to the Rockefeller Centre and took the lift to the 86th floor to see the sunset over Manhattan. Whilst it was extremely busy at this time, nothing can really compare to be stood with someone you love looking over such a beautiful view and feeling like you could take over the world together. Top of the Rock has to be one of my favourite tourist destinations in NYC, looking onto the Empire State Building and over lower Manhattan. As dusk set in we headed back down to ground level and walked on to Times Square to see it at night. If you haven’t visited Times Square before I can assure you it as bright at night as it is in the day, illuminations as far as the eye can see. We headed off downtown in search of food, both ravenous!
Last time I visited NYC, on our first evening we went to 5 Napkin Burger in Hells Kitchen recommended by our Airbnb host. I had told Ollie about the incredible smores milkshake I’d had there and that had him sold. We knew we had to stop by one of their restaurants during our stay, and that night was the night. I’ll be sharing a few more details of my fav places we ate at in NYC post very soon.
I’m heading to Lisbon tomorrow morning, I can’t wait to see Isabella again! I'm really looking forward to exploring the city some more and capturing our trip!
